Challenge Six: ‘Smokey eye with a twist’.
The twist is that its pretty damn purple. That’s it really. Smokey eyes are simple stuff. I used the usual brands, Sleek, MAC, Illamasqua, Urban Decay, etc.
Technically this is challenge six, but I still haven’t got the products I want to use for the fifth one, so here this finally is.
Challenge Five: ‘Natural Look’.
I haven’t worn anything but mascara and a little concealer for the past few weeks so that should really be my natural look. But I recently bought my first Chanel product and I’m desperate to use it whenever I can to feel like I’m really getting value for money, after all a lot was spent on that one product.
I used a sample of Diorskin Nude in shade 010 Ivory for the foundation, then contoured with Chanel Ombre Contraste Notorious and also swept it through the crease of my eye. Lined my lash lines with a matte black eye shadow and blended it out, then used Benefit Bad Gal Lash for my mascara. I used Illamasqua’s Cream Blush in Zygomatic as well. Revlon Lip Butter in 005 Sugar Frosting was used on the lips.
So chances are I’ll be wearing this look a lot because I really love Notorious and I’m still too lazy to do a full make up look for general day wear.
Day three, ‘Bold/Statement Lip’.
Again this is very simple, I wanted to do natural eyes so that it didn’t take any attention away from the lip colour. I used Illamasquas Liquid Metal in Stoic to fill out the lips, then used their Sheer Lipgloss in Violate on top to intensify the colour.
Day two is ‘Neon’. I I was pretty worried about this one considering I thought I didn’t own anything that would work. It turns out I had two whole Sleep palettes that could work.
I started off doing a look that was going across both my eyes with pink on the lid, yellow in the crease and brows, orange fading into my hairline and orange lipstick, but it was awful. There was just too much neon, so I wiped it off and went for a simple approach instead.
So this look is just bright liner and neon lips, simple. I mixed Illamasqua Sealing Gel with a blue from Sleeks Ultra Matte V1 palette for the liner, and again with a pink from Sleeks Acid palette. I added a little gloss to the lips because they looked and felt really dry, which made them even brighter in person, but in the photos it looks a bit coral.
Its not the best or most imaginative look, but its neon dammit!
I’d been meaning to attempt this for some time now, so when I was staring blankly at my desktop one night this week, I decided to have a go. It looks no where near as blended as the actual makeup, but that’s probably because I applied a mix of black face paint and Illamasqua’s Rich Liquid Foundation in 115 with my fingers, as opposed to an airbrush. I added the foundation after I had applied the face paint, so they mixed together and made me a lovely grey shade, which again makes this nothing like the actual image. One day when I own an aribrush kit I’ll attempt this again, and I have no doubt it will look so much better. I need to stop doing things like this in the middle of the night, there’s never any good lighting so the images always end up looking awful.
Part of my endeavour to be a goth again. Its the same eye shadow as the last look, with black and brown added and smoked out for liner. I used Illamasqua’s lipstick in Diablo, it was darker than the others, which is what I wanted, but I prefer a matte look. So once again, I’m still not happy with it.
I stayed at Tash’s for a few days and we practised our face painting on one of the nights. So this is what I did on her, just using black and purple with a small foundation brush to do the block colour on the lid, then a fan brush to give it a wispy look. I used Illamasqua’s Medium Pencil in Torment to fill the lips, then added black face paint, again using the fan brush to make it wispy. I’ve got some extra creepy photo’s of her in the dark with this look, but I don’t think she’d appreciate them being published, so you’ll have to just take my word for it when I say she looked bloody scary.
I did a look inspired by the gorgeous woman that is Brody Dalle. I wanted to do her make up only how I would wear it as a day to day look, so I steered clear of the heavy eye liner. But I have no doubt that I’ll do it again with the liner at some point. I don’t remember applying a base and it doesn’t look like I did either, but if I had the it would have been my old faithful Illamasqua Skin Base. I used the Sleek Ultra Matte Palette V2 for the shadow and as usual Illamsqua Masquara for the lashes. For blush I used Illamasqua Cream Blush in Zygomatic to add a slight flush. I used Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Gothic and Illamasqua Lipstick in Salacious.
Previous look with purple blush and green contours added using the Sleek Ultra Mattes V2 palette. The eyebrows make me look so sad.
I got bored and did a quick eye look. I’m still not too fond of the Illamasqua Precision Ink in Scribe, it cracks easily and when it does, you can really tell. I used Illamasquas liquid Metal in Stoic for the eyebrows, it worked quite well. It builds up far better than Resolute. Oh, and please excuse the awful skin, I had no foundation or concealer on.
